Mommy School : Summer Edition

Mommy School : Summer Edition

Summer is officially here and even though the kids are excited about the BREAK, I try to incorporate daily lessons so that they don’t forget everything they’ve learned this year! Here are a few items, that I am using to work with the kiddos this summer.

I snagged all of my learning books from Amazon!

I snagged all of my learning books from Amazon!

  1. This summer we are working on strengthening Elle’s, math skills. We recently enrolled her into Mathnasium and listen, we see a huge difference. She’s more confident in her math and excited to go each day. In addition to that I purchased the Summer Brain quest workbook for Elle. We have been using these books for the last 3 years and they are good. They sell them at Target or you can try amazon as well. Since shes an avid reader, I order her a few books off of Amazon as well.

Brain Quest books touch on math, reading, science and social studies.

2. Since Maveric has just finished his first year of school, we are working with the Brain Quest Summer books as well. I’ve used the preschool book and flash cards with Maveric prior to him starting kindergarten. He LOVES math so I also plan to continue to let him use his imagine math online game as well.

The Brain Quest Summer books combine Kindergarten and First grade work to help bridge to the new school year.

3. Jagger … what can I say… Jagger has not had any interest in school , ABC’s , etc. I purchased him a workbook to help with his fine motor skills, its called Ready Set Learn Cutting and Tracing He really enjoys this workbook and I’m am sooooo excited! Jagger is working on cutting, tracing and eventually written his name. We also noticed that Jagger was interested in UNO so it was a great way to help him learn his numbers and brush up on colors!

Jagger is eager to do his work!

4. Axel wants to do what all the big kids are doing so I purchased him the Play Smart Early Learning 2+ workbook. He has really enjoyed doing his “work” when the big kids are working. In addition to the workbook we are focusing on letter recognition and fine motor skills.

5. The last item I purchased was the Teach MY flashcard set education box, it has ton of sight word cards, colors, numbers up to 100, alphabet, and word families. This has really been a hit with Axel for his letter recognition. Maveric has mastered all of the site words and Jagger is working on his numbers.

I hope that you were able to find something new that you can utilize this summer with your kiddos. Even with our Mommy School time, I still plan on letting them swim, travel, PLAY, stay up later and just RELAX! We all needed this break for school and we look forward to capturing amazing memories. Until next time…

Meka
